Bruno needs to trust his teammates, says Amorim

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes needs to trust his teammates more than he currently does, his coach Ruben Amorim has noted.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes needs to trust his teammates more than he currently does, his coach Ruben Amorim has noted.
Fernandes dropped a man-of-the-match performance against Real Sociedad on Thursday as United booked their place in the last 8 of the Europa League with a 4-1 win on the night and a 5-2 aggregate score.
Amorim was full of praise for the Portugal playmaker's leadership but also came out with a rallying call for his mercurial captain.
"When we need it, (Fernandes) is always there," Amorim told Supersport.
"He can bring the ball forward. He can score goals. He is a perfect captain for our team and we need to help him win titles,"
However, Amorim noted Fernandes was sometimes guilty of disrupting United's shape by drifting out of position in search of the ball.
"We know that sometimes he is frustrated," Amorim added. "We know he wants to win so badly and when things are not going well, he is changing position and going after the ball, he stated.
"Sometimes he needs to trust his teammates."
United, 14th in the English Premier League, visit relegation battling Leicester City on Sunday as they aim to climb higher in the standings, having spent the majority of 2025 in the bottom 10.
